Volcano author and educator Tom Peek will offer a free after-school writing workshop for middle school students from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village.

“No Fear Writing” will encourage students in grades 6-8 to “stretch their critical and creative muscles in a safe, supportive environment.” Participants are invited to return Saturday, May 26, to showcase their workshop projects in a poetry slam/open mike event at VAC’s Youth Art Festival following a free Brittni Paiva concert.

Although the writing workshop is free, pre-registration is required. For more information, visit www.volcanoartcenter.org or contact Julie Callahan at 967-8222 or julie@volcanoartcenter.org.
